Foot and Ankle Sports Surgery

Dr Sidhu offers non-surgical and surgical treatment for a variety of Foot and Ankle Sports conditions, including Achilles tendon ruptures (for which he uses the mid-substance SpeedBridge repair), syndesmosis injuries (high ankle sprains), fractures (ankle fractures, navicular stress fractures and Jones fractures), Lisfranc/midfoot injuries and recurrent ankle instability.

During his fellowship in Philadelphia, he spent time treating professional athletes from the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL) and Philadelphia Phillies (Major League Baseball) as well as athletes from the surrounding Division 1 NCAA Colleges (Villanova, Rutgers and St Joseph’s) and Princeton University.

Dr Sidhu also trained at foot and ankle surgical facilities in Florida (Arthrex), Colorado (Paragon 28) and Tennessee (Smith and Nephew) learning how to perform the most up to date procedures in the treatment for the above conditions.

Ankle Replacement Surgery

Ankle Replacement Surgery is a pain-relieving procedure for patients with end stage ankle arthritis, who have failed non-surgical treatment. It allows preservation of ankle joint movement and can prevent arthritis of the surrounding foot and ankle joints, that can occur after Ankle Fusion Surgery.

Dr Sidhu offers Ankle Replacement Surgery and Talus Replacement Surgery for eligible patients. During his fellowship in Philadelphia, Dr Sidhu performed over 80 ankle replacement surgery procedures, including primary and revision ankle replacement surgery.

Bunion Surgery and Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Surgery

The majority of patients with bunion deformities do not require surgery. Surgery is reserved for patients with daily pain over the bunion and limitation of day to day activities due to pain.

Dr Sidhu has trained in minimally invasive (key-hole) foot and ankle surgery and offers minimally invasive Bunion Correction Surgery. This involves using a 5 small incisions on the inside of the foot in order to correct the bunion deformity. After this procedure, patients can weight bear through their heel for 2 weeks and then fully weight bear from 2 weeks onwards.

For further information regarding this procedure, please contact our office.

Clinical Research

Dr Sidhu holds a keen interest in orthopaedic research. He is one of the research leads for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.

He is currently undertaking a PhD through UNSW Sydney. The focus of his research is investigating medications which can reduce the risk of venous thromboembolism (deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolus) after hip and knee replacement surgery.
